As a gentleman, no matter how many suits, shoes and plain shirts you own, your wardrobe is still incomplete if you don’t own sweaters; especially a crew neck.
Sweaters are more than just something to throw on to stay warm in the cold. A well-tailored, form-fitting sweater can be as eye-catching as a charming smile. This is a fact!
Looking good in a sweater is all about coordinating it with the rest of your outfit. Choose the sweater’s fabric, pattern, and style depending on what you need. Pair your sweater with a simple pair of jeans, a plain shirt, or even a tie and jacket for a stylish outfit you can wear with pride.
But not all sweaters are created equal and, in this post, we’d be covering crew neck sweaters.
Crew neck sweaters are a perfect example of how less is more. The neckline is round, designed with a narrow band of ribbing. Designed not to look edgy, crew necks are great office wears.
When choosing, you should watch for those ones that have a tighter neck opening, as they limit your options. With these types, you can only wear them with collarless undershirts. Neckties will also be out of the question because they won’t be seen at all.
Solid Crew Necks
These types have no patterns and resemble t-shirts with long sleeves. You should be a little careful about wearing them to places where they might look plain compared to what other people have on.
Striped/Basic Pattern Crew Necks
These are the more interesting types. The lines add more character to the sweater and help make you stylishly stand out. Try going for white lines against a dark/deep colour (no risk of colours clashing since white is neutral).
